茂名港博贺新港区粤电煤炭码头工程项目是为了解决粤电集团下属电厂、茂名市以及周边地区的煤炭运输需求，加快茂名港博贺新港区开发建设而决定建设的项目，先后列入“广东省新十项工程”和广东省委、省政府“关于促进粤西地区振兴发展的指导意见”。
该项目建设10万吨级卸煤码头（码头结构按15万吨级设计）、3.5万吨级装煤码头、工作船码头各1个以及防波堤、护岸等其他港口配套设施。码头设计总吞吐量为1300万吨/年，其中卸煤能力1000万吨/年，装煤能力600万吨/年。

  The project will build 10,000 tons of unloading wharf (wharf structure according to the design of 150,000 tons), 35,000 tons of coal loading docks, workboat wharves and a breakwater, bank protection and other port facilities. The total throughput of the terminal design is 13 million tons / year, of which the unloading capacity is 10 million tons / year and the coal loading capacity is 6 million tons / year.
